Anvita Ramachandran

Anvita Ramachandran has joined CEGIS as an Economist with the Economics and Statistics Unit (ESU) in Chennai.
She is completing her PhD in International Development at the University of Oxford. Her research interests centre on labour, migration and firms in developing countries.
Her research explores two interrelated challenges to structural transformation in India: the low productivity of firms in the manufacturing sector and the limited spatial mobility of workers. She has used diverse data sources including panel studies, administrative records, experimental methods and semi-structured interviews.
Alongside her studies, Anvita has worked as a short-term consultant with the Economic Research and Development Impact department at the Asian Development Bank and the Poverty and Equity Global Practice at the World Bank.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Anvita obtained an MPhil in Development Studies (with distinction) at the University of Oxford, and a BA in Economics and a BSc in Statistics (magna cum laude) from the University of Chicago.
