The Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) invites you to the launch of compendium on ‘Towards Data-Driven Governance: Trends and Perspectives’
About the compendium
The use of accurate and actionable data in decision-making processes at all levels of the government is a shared goal that involves multiple stakeholders. This data-driven approach is essential for strengthening state capacity and plays a key role in realising India’s developmental potential in the years ahead.
In 2024, the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS), in collaboration with domain experts and partner organisations, convened a workshop on Data-Driven Governance (DDG). This workshop facilitated in-depth discussions on the multifaceted nature of data use in governance, highlighting the evolving role of technology in data collection, analysis, and application. Given the complexity and interdisciplinary nature of this subject, these conversations must remain dynamic and continuous.
This publication brings together contributions from CEGIS employees and leading experts in the field, covering a diverse range of topics — from sector-specific applications of data to emerging areas like behavioural insights and the real-world use of data in governance. The objective of this compilation is to advance the discourse on DDG and introduce new perspectives that will benefit all stakeholders.
