Abhishek Chakravarty is Head Economist in the Economics and Statistics Unit (ESU) at CEGIS. Abhishek’s expertise lies in Applied Microeconomics, Development Economics, and Programme Evaluation. He has worked extensively on issues in gender inequality, child welfare, and intra-household resource allocation outcomes in India. His research has been published in globally leading journals including the Journal of the European Economic Association, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, and the Journal of Development Economics. 

He obtained his PhD in Economics from University College London, and is currently Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Manchester, where he has been on the faculty since 2016. He was previously Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Essex from 2011 to 2016.
