Mahima Vasishth

Economist

Mahima Vasishth is working as an Economist in the Economics and Statistics Unit at CEGIS.

She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Irvine in 2023 and was a postdoctoral scholar at the Laboratory for Effective Anti-Poverty Policies, Bocconi University between 2023-2025. She is also a Research Affiliate at the IZA Institute of Labor Economics.

She is an Applied Microeconomist and her research proficiency lies in the fields of Labor Economics, Development Economics, and Public Economics. She has experience in using experimental and quasi-experimental techniques to study how laws and social norms influence responses to gender-based violence, the economic impacts of women's empowerment, and the role of social inclusion in human capital investment.

She has also collaborated with the International Monetary Fund, the National Council of Applied Economic Research, and CEGIS in the past, providing expertise to develop evidence-based strategies aimed at reducing gender gaps in economic opportunities and enhancing welfare programs.
