Webinar on ‘The Collaborative Role of National Agencies, State DES & Academia in Strengthening India’s Statistical System’

The Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) organised a webinar on ‘The Collaborative Role of National Agencies, State DES & Academia in Strengthening India’s Statistical System’ on July 8 from 3:00-4:30 PM IST.

About the webinar

In today’s data-driven world, statisticians play a crucial role in informing evidence-based policy and driving national and state development. Yet, their presence in key domains such as health, education, nutrition, and governance remains limited. These sectors continue to face critical data and analytical gaps that hinder effective decision-making.

Addressing this challenge requires a systemic transformation - modernising academic curricula, strengthening professional training, and promoting collaboration between statisticians, data scientists, and development practitioners.

To commemorate National Statistics Day, celebrated every year in June in honour of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis and the foundational role of statistics in governance and development, CEGIS is organising this webinar to explore how statisticians can better contribute to nation-building and how the ecosystem can prepare them to lead with impact.
